Mountain Bikes FAQs
Why do I not hear much about 10-speeds anymore?
Whereas you may have heard a lot about 10-speeds a few years ago, the
fact of the matter is that these bikes are now called road bikes. They
are not called 10-speeds anymore simply because they are so much more
than 10-speeds. These bikes can now range anywhere from 12 to 21 speeds.
So, the bikes are still around, but they have definitely advanced and
evolved enough to warrant a new name. These bikes can be obtained at
any bike shop, but are also popular bikes to buy online. However, it
might be best to try out the settings before you buy.
Is getting a BMX bike for my son safe?
As far as safety goes, sure, getting one of these bikes for your son
is safe. They are well-built durable bikes that do well in holing up
when crashing. So the bike is safe. The real question is how safe will
your son be when he is riding this bike. While BMX riding can be dangerous,
there are some things that can be done to minimize the risk. One of
the main things that can be done to minimize this risk is to sign up
your son for a supervised BMX class. This way he will learn how to do
things the right way. This should improve the safety level.
What kinds of features should I look for on a bike computer?
A bike computer should definitely have itunes and Youtube. Just kidding.
A bike computer is best used when it does not have too many functions
or features that could distract the rider. Features that measure how
fast the bike is moving are always helpful. Likewise, if you can get
a computer that will help keep you abreast of how many calories you
are burning, this can be advantageous as well. There are definitely
a number of other features available, but most people don’t used
the most advanced features on these computers.
